A silver filigree and enamel box

Parcel gilt oval box decorated throughout with pierced filigree acanthus leaves, the slightly domed lid with corresponding décor and inset with an enamelled copper panel depicting various types of tulips. H 4; W 11; D 10 cm, weight 223 g.
Unmarked, presumably South German, around 1700.

This kind of silver filigree décor is reminiscent of the host boxes made by the Stadt silversmiths, whilst the finely painted enamel is similar to works by the Nuremberg based engraver and enamel painter Georg Strauch (1613 – 73).
