A rare small round negoro chaire. Early Edo period

The high splayed foot surmounted by a globular thin-walled receptacle with a flat lid tapering to the edges, covered all over with a reddish-brown lacquer with brownish streaks along the sides. Black lacquer to the inside and inside the foot. Minor damages due to age. Wooden box with the seal Iwakura (probably the name of the former owner) and a shifuku, not belonging.
Height 6.3 cm

Such chaire were used by the court nobles when preparing tea during an outing. They were stored with other utensils in chabako of woven bamboo.
