A rare lacquered wood cigar dispenser. Late 19th century

Of hexagonal shape on three feet with three revolving doors, each with metal fittings for three cigars at the back, the doors decorated in gold lacquer with Tekkai Sennin exhaling his anima, Shaen reading by the light of fireflies and Chinnan Sennin travelling over waves on a large sedge hat, all on a black ground. The rest of the body and pedestal with a drawer decorated with flower spays, blossoming branches and birds. Metal fittings to the corners and edges, one missing. Traces of use.
