An ivory manjû, by Hojitsu. Mid-19th century

One part, round and slightly domed with a central button. Carved in sunken relief with a temple servant sweeping the ground beneath a weeping willow with a large broom. A dancing frog near a stream with a sunken kemari ball in katakiri on the reverse. Finely engraved details accentuated with ink and a little red. Signed Hojitsu with kakihan.
