A royal diamond brooch

Silver and 14k red gold symmetrical cartouche form brooch with campanula and palmette motifs. Fully encrusted with 51 cushion shaped old-cut diamonds (in total c. 4.0 ct, H-J, vs - si) and small rose-cut diamonds. In the centre a large champagne coloured cushion-cut diamond (c. 2.08 ct, c. 10.41 x 8.49 x 3.13 mm, O/P, vs). Brooch clasp replaced in 14k red gold. 5 x 3 cm. Weight 9.48 g.

Provenance

German princely estate. According to family tradition, the brooch was a gift from the Prussian royal family to an ancestor who held a ministerial post at the Prussian court.
