A Lower Silesian glass goblet with the armorials of the Margraves of Baden-Durlach

Round base supporting a twisted baluster shaft with red cane inclusion and a tapering cup with a round armorial beneath an electoral crown supported by two griffons. H 20.2 cm.
Attributed to Schreiberhau/Szklarska Poreba,1st half 18th C.

Karl III Wilhelm von Baden-Durlach (1679 - 1738) became involved in the Spanish wars of Succession as a young officer and was severely wounded. He ended his military career upon entering government in 1709.
