A Dutch mortar with dog's head motifs

Thickly cast golden brown bronze with dark brown patina. Bell-shaped mortar with moulded base. The centre decorated with three moulded rings. The handles formed as dog's heads. The upper rim with a wide balderole inscribed in Gothic minuscule: “omnia dat dominus non habet ergo minus”. The lower section with several horizontal and Y-shaped cracks, the older of which with patinated repairs. H 16.5, D 21.5 cm, weight c. 9.1 kg.
