A small Dutch mortar from 1604

Golden brown cast bronze with brown patina (the inner surface and the rim slightly mottled). The centre decorated with two bands of acanthus scrolls, the lower border inscribed in Latin capital letters: “LOF GODT VAN AL Ao 1604”. The two handles formed as dolphins. Some minor dents to the rim and base. H 9, D 10.4 cm, weight c. 1.2 kg. Includes a corresponding bronze pestle with a node. L 17.5 cm.
