A Gothic single-handled mortar

Golden brown cast bronze with dark brown patina. Of tapering form resting on four stylised paw feet from which issue one shorter and three longer angular ribs. With flaring moulded rim and angular, octagonally faceted handle (slightly warped). Dents throughout, the handle bases irregularly chased, calcific deposits to the interior. H 17.5, D 15.4 cm, weight c. 4.3 kg.
