A lacquer kobako. 19th century

In shape of two intersecting squares with a flat lid and a tray inside, decorated with the Eight Views of Ômi in gold and silver hiramakie on a black ground with nashiji, the lid with the bridge of Seta in the evening sun, and the autumn moon on Ishiyama, at the sides wild geese at Katada, returning sailboats at Yabase, evening bells at Mii and evening snow at Mount Hira; on the tray the old pine tree of Karasaki and Awazu. Nashiji to the interior. Minor traces of use. Inside an old paper label with the old collector’s number 57063 in ink.
