A North Italian Renaissance mortar

Golden brown cast bronze with shimmering brown patina. Bell-shaped mortar with two acanthus clasped scroll handles. Both sides decorated with cornucopia motifs and bucrania (severely worn). With acanthus leaves beneath the rim. With minor dents around the rim and casting faults around the handles. H 10.5, D 12.1 cm, weight c. 1.6 kg.
Venice, Giulio Alberghetti / workshop of Alberghetti or Brescia, attributed to the workshop of Gaspare di Girolamo Marci, mid- to late 16th C.
