According to Stephen Marvin "the cartouche impressed above the proper left eye socket identifies the artist as Chôun Yasuyoshi (1748-1779, the seventh head of the House of Ôno Deme. The workmanship is consistant with Chôun's work. This pattern of Kasshiki is unique for its serious expression and was probably popularized by Zekan Yoshimitsu (1526-1616), founder of The House of Ôno Deme." (E-Mail dated 20.4.2022).
