A five-case inrô. Late 19th century

Displaying the brothers Takeshiuchi no Sukune and Amami no Sukune next to a large cauldron with boiling water performing the test ordered by Emperor Ôjin, in which the faithful servant Takeshiuchi, who has inserted his arm into the boiling water remains unharmed. On the reverse, the jealous Amami is consumed by the flames, in gold and silver takamakie and hiramakie, with red lacquer and kirikane on very fine nashiji. Fundame to the inside. Signed: Yôyusai saku. Pinkish coral ojime.
