A round Meissen porcelain butter dish with brocade motifs

Butter dish with slip lid and pinecone finial, painted throughout with opulent brocade patterns in the Imari style surrounded by borders of cobalt blue, iron red and gold. Blue crossed swords mark to the inside of the dish, smoothed base with dreher's no. 23. Minor retouches to the gilding. H 6.5, D 12.3 cm.
