A Bidri zinc alloy huqqa base with silver inlays. India, Deccan, Bidar. 18th/19th century

The body of rounded form with narrow truncated and slightly flaring neck, decorated with a pattern of silver poppies against a black ground, the shoulder with a band of trailing floral vines between leafy borders, an undulating foliate motif frieze below a molded ring with chevron design, a further neck ring with repeating poppy motifs.
