A Central or South Indian copper alloy Virabhadra altar with Daksha and Sati. 19th century

Inserted into a stepped base with balustrade, in the center Virabhadra, a form of Shiva, standing on a lotus cushion in his two main hands shield and sword, his secondary hands holding an object (perhaps the bow) and a trisula. To his left the ram-headed Daksha with both hands in anjalimudra, to his right Shiva's wife, Sati, hands also held in anjalimudra. Inserted behind the three figures a prabhatorana with a naga spreading its five heads protectively over Virabhadra and a kirttimukha mask at the top. A total of five parts.
