A very large celadon charger. Ming dynasty, 15th century

Of saucer shape with slightly thickened lip. The slightly domed centre with an engraved cash-and-trellis pattern, the cavetto with peony vines. Glazed foot ring, at the bottom a domed unglazed circle in which the body is brownish oxidised.
