A flambé-glazed fanghu vase. Qing dynasty, 19th century

Pear-shaped body on a rectangular footring and with a quadrilobed mouth, at the shoulders two handles with square lugs, on the belly raised peach-shaped panels. Glazed with a copper-red yaobian glaze, creamy lavender streaks at the rim, edges and handles, turning to dark purple at the sides. At the bottom incised apocryphal six-character mark Qianlong in seal script on a grey-glazed ground with brown patches.
