A Bastar copper alloy figure of Danteshvari on an elephant. Central India, Chattisgarh. 20th century

In a howdah on the back of a caparisoned elephant, the goddess sits on a swing under a canopy with two horses as well as sun and moon, which is surmounted by a similar-looking figure. In the neck of the richly decorated elephant sits the elephant keeper (mahout) with weapons in both hands, he is flanked by detachable figures of Jhitku with axe and shawl and Gondindevi with cymbals, basket and shovel.
