Tyrol, second half 18th C.

Glass panel painted on reverse in opaque and transparent pigments, with silver-bronze accents and inscription against black ground. With retouches. Painted softwood frame, H 24.5, W 30.3 cm.

Both reverse glass paintings reproduce motifs from a four part series by the Augsburg engraver and publisher Martin Engelbrecht (1684 - 1756), depicted in reverse. His piece "Der unangenehme Winter“ (The Unpleasant Winter) from the same series is housed in the Landesmuseum Zurich.
