A large and shallow Nezumi-Shino bowl. Mino area, Owari province. Early Edo period, 17th century

With a round, stepped body and an irregular rim, on three attached hand-formed feet. Thin, brownish-grey glaze with large pores to the body and whitish crackled glaze covering the base and the feet, reserved from the grey glaze in white, on the inside reeds over a hatched ground, and alternating net and line patterns to the outside rim. Wooden box, paper label pasted to one side, inscribed: Daichin... Nezumi-Shino romon surizabachi.
