A small Satsuma bowl by Sozan. Early 20th century

of rounded shape with a flower-shaped rim, finely painted in enamels and gold to the inside with a daimyo procession and chrysanthemeums to the rim, at the outside ladies and girls at various activities such as writing, making music, composing poems, playing go and performing the tea ceremony. Mark to the base reading Sozan sei and inscription of a framed calligraphy reading Satsuma Sozan.
