An unusual mortar with hand shaped handles

Gold coloured bronze with golden brown natural patina. Cylindrical vessel with protruding rim on a solid base. Cast with mouldings throughout, six large acanthus reliefs, and arabesques with mascarons around the rim. The handles unusually modelled as hands holding pestles. A horizontal crack to the lower section. H 13.8, D 15.5 cm. Weight 4.3 kg. Including a corresponding pestle.
