A dated Renaissance mortar

Cast bronze with silvery shimmering patina. Of tapering form with a stepped base and protruding moulded rim. With several bands of horizontal moulding and a central narrow band of foliate tendrils. The rim inscribed in Gothic majuscule: “IC BEN GHEGOTEN INT IAER M C C C C CXXXII”. With angular handles. H 12, D 16.2 cm. Weight c. 3.7 kg.
