An oblong one-case inrô. 19th century

Of natural wood with a thin coating of transparent lacquer, displaying three shikishi at each side, decorated in various lacquer techniques with inlays of glazed ceramic and a little mother-of-pearl, the shikishi on one side with seal script characters, shells and water plants, and with suminagashi, on the other side with hagi under a full moon, a court cart and ferns. Inscribed Kansai tsukuru kore. Inside an inserted subdivided compartment in fundame and gyôbu-hirameji. Body and lid with a crack, clamped with silver.
