A black lacquer zushi. 18th/19th century

Inside a lacquer-gilt wood figure of Amida Nyorai seated in meditation on a double lotus above an ornamental pedestal, both hands in jô-in mudra, behind the figure a mandorla carved with clouds, both urna of glass. At the front two thin columns supporting a bracket system. The inside of the shrine lacquered black and gilded, the outside lacquered black and with large, ornate and chiselled fittings of gilt-copper. Age wear. Restored.
