A Gothic single-handled mortar

Yellow gold cast bronze with silver-gold patina. Of tapering form resting on four stylised paw feet from which issue one shorter and three longer angular ribs. The broadly flaring moulded rim protruding into the inside of the mortar and with an angular indentation opposite the small, angular, octagonally faceted handle. The base and lower section slightly rounded due to use. H 16, D 14 cm, weight c. 2.3 kg.
