Glass painted on reverse in eglomisé technique between a clear glass and an opalescent glass pane, painted in transparent lacquer pigments en camaieu against silver leaf and opaque black lacquer pigment. Ebonised and gilded softwood frame, H 22, W 24.2 cm.

This view of what is now Guangzhou depicts the imposing 57m high pagoda of the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees in the background.
