France, late 18th C.

Glass painted on reverse in opaque and transparent pigments. With moisture damage. Round gilded copper frames backed with iron sheet, D 3.9 cm. Mounted on a brown velvet cushion.

According to Ryser, larger collections of these rare buttons can be found in the Kurpfälzisches Museum in Heidelberg and the Museo Frederic Marès in Barcelona.
